FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring and wear to class?

Bring along a sweat towel and a bottle of water. For pole, wear comfortable gym clothing with some exposed skin for grip. For lyra, wear tight leggings and a tucked-in shirt. No jewellery is allowed during class, as it scratches the poles and lyras.

I have no strength, can I still join?

Yes. Beginners start with basic moves like spins and climbs, and every class incorporates conditioning to build strength progressively. The best part about pole and aerial fitness is that you're training your muscles without even realising it.

Am I too old or overweight?

Not at all — we welcome all ages and body types. Greta Pontarelli started poling at 59 and won a gold medal at Worlds at age 66.

Is there a risk of injury?

As with any sport, there's some risk. Warming up is essential, and you shouldn't attempt a move you aren't confident in without an instructor's help. Bruises are common at first and fade as your conditioning improves.

Do I have to be fit, flexible, or have a dance background?

No prior experience is required — everyone starts as a beginner, regardless of background.

How many classes should I attend?

Most students attend around two classes a week for optimal progress.

I am a man, can I sign up?

Yes — we welcome both genders.

What if I struggle with a move?

Progress takes time, but you'll see improvement within weeks of consistent practice.

I am under 18, can I sign up?

Yes, but parental consent is required for minors.

Where are you located? Is there parking?

Unit 6 Park Edge Mews, Link Way, Edgemead, Cape Town. There is ample parking outside the main gate.
